sad to say its only my second movie here.
first time there was to watch a korean horror movie because i've gotten the gala premiere tickets from yes933.
went to buy the tickets for "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor".
the 9:50pm timeslot was in yellow and was filling fast.
we decided to try our luck and luckily!
we managed to have all 6 seats together. but its at the first row.
could see that there are only about 5seats in total left only.
xx has the nEbo member thingy and we managed to get our tickets at 9bucks ea.
so we settled the tickets.
next is our dinner!
i suggested going to Aston Specialties as reconmended by this blog which i bloghopped from nuffnang.
so we browsed cathay and found Aston Specialties at lvl 4!
first thing we saw was the long queues.
good signs! as it means many people think their food is nice.
its quite ulu upstairs so if theres queues there, it means ppl specially came here and not just happen to walk past this restaurant and decide to settle here for dinner.
alvin was still worried that the steaks over there would be abit pricey. i reassured him that the blog that i read said she only spent $50 for 2 pax. meaning its $20+ for a person which is quite acceptable for normal steaks.
second thing we saw was the menu and the affordable prices!
my Prime Sirloin cost me only $11.90. with 2 side dishes to go with it.
side dishes includes, mashed potato, french fries, onion rings, baked potato, tasty rice, corn, potato salad.
theres so many side dishes for u to mix-n-match to suit your tastebuds!
we were offered the outdoors seats and it was really a breezy evening.
the atmosphere outside is so nice. u can see the blue skies and the outer building of the illuminated cathay building.
and moments after we settled down on our tables.
we saw this!
yes! its not taken from some websites or what. its taken by my potato camera with cy as the camera-manwoman.
its the NDP preview performance. it was 7.15pm at that moment.
after that we managed to hear the fireworks go BOM BOM BOM but all we could see was smoke and some lights emitted from the fireworks as we were blocked by the roofwalls.
some photos before our meals arrive.
the candles which the waiters have a hard time trying to keep it lited.
the winds was too strong!
TADA!
thats the first picture of weiyang's recruit hair
we all agree that the botak hairstyle suits him
but he become so dark and thin and his head seems so much smaller without the hair ontop.
my IBC rootbeer. tastes about the same as the MUG rootbeer we have. only abit more bitter aftertaste.
my mushroom soup.
my medium rare prime sirloin. + baked potato + onion rings.
the meat was not bad, tender and tasty.
but the sauce was abit too bland.
black-pepper something. forgot what. it was alvin's order.
fish n chips. fangwei's.
i forgot what the others have ordered.
but it surely looked nice.
and all are at a very affordable price.
i got a prime sirloin(with the 2 side dishes), mushroom soup, IBC rootbeer all for just 16bucks.
my other friends who just order the main courses with 2 side dishes had their meals at only 8bucks!?
and the prices are GST included with no additional service charges.
considering the service there is quite good, the staffs are polite and efficient and stuffs.
if u happen to be at the cathay one day, you should really try this for once!
they have their main branch at katong.
and some other outlets ->

Bye bye Astons Specialities!
will be back for more affordable steaks!
