Okay this afternoon i felt damn bored.
So, i decided to go explore the rural side of sembawang whereby i saw on some angler’s website that there a fishing spot over there!
lets look at the route first.
halfway thru yishun mrt to sembawang mrt’s track, beside the thai food restaurant building there, there’s a big big canal.
the white arrows is the cycling route that i’m gonna take to reach the so called “fishing site” at Bottle Tree Village there(not the one at khatib!)

super nice weather la!
that’s why i was thinking i cannot stay at home and rot!

this is the route.

this route has a nice track for cycling!

when i reach the end of the straight route, i got to a left bend and the canal started to become deeper …

opposite is a military site,
no entry!

there’s even a
YISHUN FIRE STATION!
didn’t realise yishun has fire station too… until today!

finally saw
some souls around, some young kids cycling.

cycled
1 KM, another
1.8 KM to go …

a slight slope,
what lies ahead?

ohh, its a
bridge.
this is the view at the side, a smaller canal.

they even have sports facilities at such a ulu site!

after crossing the
“bridge”here comes the
longest stretch of straight route.
and what’s the
view ahead!?

nice!
super super wide canal!
it is said that this canal is
very old le.
"SUNGEI SIMPANG KIRI”

there are
“busstops” for ppl to seek shelter during rain.

some
more human spotted along the way, old man fishing with
fish net.

2.6 KM cycled,
200Ms more to go!!

Finally,
0 Ms left,
2.8 KM cycled!

got greeted by Bottle Tree Village.

the smell of Ocean~

some
malay boys leaving the place, with their
fishing equipments.

opposite the canal, i saw some
army guys walking along the beaches o.O
finding
Mas Selamat?

arh~
nice view la.
yes thats
my bike at the right bottom corner.

that’s the
FISHING SITE.
saw a indian family and couple of other people fishing over there.
the moment i went to look at the open sea, i saw a
BIG fish jump out of the water, about the 80cm long bah!
then those uncles went,
WAH~
checked the tides,
Date : 18/03/2009
Time : 1637
Tide : 2m (High)

and there’s a slipway.
okay not as big as the one i have in my camp.
lol.

2 malay uncle and 1 chinese uncle throwing crab traps,
crabbing!

halfway, i received
2 SMSes.
was wondering who smsed me
twice in a go.
i reached
malaysia!
lol.

the uncles were casting
many crab nets at one go.
one line =
one net.

i went to
peep at their catch of the day.
the malay uncle
very good, he went to open the wooden cover let me see.
guess what . . .

WAH!PENG!compared to my catch last week at sembawang jetty, mine was like
babies la!

i went to check on the web, the
blue one is male, the
slightly brown one on the left is
female.
the chinese uncle had lesser catch, but still alot la!

from where i was, which is the RED arrow, i can see sembawang jetty (BLUE arrow)!

later, i only managed to find my way to the malay mosque located at the
YELLOW arrow, was trying to get to sembawang park by foot from here.
when i got back to the opening of the SUNGEI SIMPANG KIRI
4 anglers, what a crowd.

my bumble bee bike :D

i tried to get
nearer to the
jetty.
and i managed to find
more anglers.

some traces of
urbanisation.

they even set up
campfire here!
machiam
survivor.

i read from the web, see the
bubbles or
movements in the water?
they are
shoals of fishes.

little kids trying to net some fishes.
i saw them
netting up some
crabs!

one
last photo of the
beautiful canal before i take my leave.

some
self-pic ~_~

when i was
about to leave.
i saw a uncle
stand up from his seat and
ran towards his rod.
i saw the
bend from the top of his rod and he was
reeling in the lines fast hoping so the
fish wont escape!

a
catfish!
sizeable one.
haha.
beware, they have poisonous fins.

on my way back, along the
canal, i saw a malay angler caught a catfish as well, but
half the size of the previous one.
:X
halfway thru, theres a
path that leads to a
road.

its this restaurant! (with the big crab sign)
i rmb this place when i take the bus to sembawang park, i’ll pass by this place.
so that’s mean i can cycle thru this path if i wanna reach the canal from sembawang park!

after that, i went to
chongpang to grab more fishing equipments, larger weights and hooks, gonna target the
larger fish on my next fishing trip!
lastly, some stitched photos of the place!
the sembawang jetty side.
the canal opening side

P/S : all the pictures are taken and edited solely by me!
managed to take more pictures as i went to explore this place alone.
