Especially after I see this pic in the local fishingkaki forum.

What a giant size mud crab!

It is said that it weights 1.2kg, thats like 3 times the normal size adult mud crab!

This one must be the great-grand-granny.

And this monster is caught using a rectangular trap at Punggol End right of Jetty.

Rectangular trap!

I was wondering how did such a huge crab manage to get stucked inside the rectangular trap.

And the person who post this picture share with us the trick!

It is to leave the rectangular trap open, and once in a while, pull up quick and check.

And when you pull up, the trap will be closed and thus the crab will be trapped inside!

Wow!

A new way of using the rectangular trap, rather than using the side pocket-sized gaps to trap kid mud crab.
