today actually wanted to stay at home and chill at night.
then caiyu smsed me say the weather so good, why not go night cycling.
then the first thing that came to my mine was, crabbing too!
night cycling + crabbing = perfect.
haha.
so i quickly went to google the 2 places that i wanted to get my very first adult mud crab.
one was Yishun Dam(never tried crabbing there before and never seen anyone doing that)
the other was Admiralty Road/Marsiling Jetty, didnt go explore that site before but saw in forum that people caught big size mud crabs before!
OKAY someone was telling me that those details about crabbing/fishing is kinda of BORING.
but i have to thank that someone.
Okay la that someone is pkl.
LOL.
Thanks, for explaining the things that i asked you for help and thanks again for accompanying me to buy the “thing” that i needed to buy.
so this post i’ll post less technical stuffs and i’ll post more pictures kkkk~
Okay so we cycled down along the MRT track from sembawang->admiralty->woodlands->marsiling
on the way we saw woodlands having a HUGE Pasar Malam!
and i love Pasar Malam laaaa, super nice food.
but we just finished dinner, so was not hungry yet, didnt buy anything and proceed on our journey …

Okay after checking the maps that i downloaded and put into my iTouch

The place that we wanna go is at
Admiralty Road West.
Haha, thanks to my superb geography skills, i managed to make my way to Admiralty Road West without any hiccups.
SO proud of myself! :D
Admiralty Road West itself is a long straight road along the Straits between SG and Johor.

But the whole stretch is currectly blocked-up for the proposed
Woodlands Waterfront Promenade and will be only completed on
3rd quarter 2010.
So long!

towards the end is a dead end.
but theres another road which leads to somewhere back into the residential area if im not wrong.

so we u-turn back to one spot that we saw, which seems to be quite
productive.
its like a drain output.
left view.

right view.

right infront is the beautiful Johor!

there was not a single soul there, when i decided to set up my base.
so i was like, “
just try my luck, since there isnt anyone fishing/crabbing here, this might be a deadspot.”
to try out first, i just setup
one crabbing net.
that was a selar bought from NTUC, too late, no more fish head :(
lol, the NTUC aunty remembered me,
she said : “ 又去钓螃蟹啊?~”
haha.
cos i got buy fish head and ask her help me chop into two, so can use for 2 traps. haha.

cast the line~

i tell you, the water there is like really
dead and not moving lor.
and there was some
rubbish floating on top.
cause the place is like beside the
causeway and thus there is
not much waves.
I was really doubting whether this place will produce any
living creatures.
while waiting, i used the opportunity to take some photos.
haha.

artistic shot.
haha.

the souvenir cy bought for me from batam.
she say it looks damn nice!
what do you think?

and, i tell you.
for
2 times, i pull up the net, there was
NOTHING at all.
i was
giving up hope and cy and me agreed that if the
3rd time no crabs at all, this site is proven
NOT PRODUCTIVE and we will explore the earlier part of the Admiralty Road West.
Then the 3rd time came and i pulled up and here comes my first flower crab from there!!
was expecting mud crabs la ~_~
then see, aiyoo, flower again.
but not bad laaa.
then soon got another crab!

then got a family drive their van come.
a couple and their mother.
they came with live prawns i think.
but they got only a mudskipper, but quite a big size one and they keep getting sangkot(lines stucked in the seabed).
argh!! i hate sangkot, they killed many of my self-tied rigs…
omg i feel like a ah peh… tying my own rigs…
but got 1 uncle came and say people got get before BIG size KBL here before.
seeing that this place is actually productive.
i quickly set-up my 2nd selar fish and 2nd crab trap!
orange and yellow one.
yellow was the first trap.

then the crabs kept coming in!
the family was like, wah they crabbing even better than our fishing. so many catches.
the aunty was even saying, normally people have to wait longer for before pulling the crabtrap, but you all so fast pull still got crab, not bad not bad.
haha.
lei kong zim!
thunder crab again, only the
pincers are edible!

more and more
flower crabs!

we got real bored and played itouch games, listen to songs bla bla.
then we were saying,
“okay, after this song’s chorus, we go pull the net see got crab anot.”
haha, cause some times it depends on luck whether got crab anot.
you can wait for 10mins, take out, small crab escaped.
you can put for 1min, take out, big crab stucked!
happened a few times, i put awhile then take up, got bigger crab lor!
so it depends on luck!
and cy got this sunburn which made her very itchy at the back.

wah, the thunder crabs all very strong and active, keep wanna use their pincers “kiam” my tongs.

our mini base.

ohh and we tried out the iTouch application, mosquito repellent, whereby the application will emit a high frequency to deter off any mossies!
lol.
dont really know if it works, but for quite some period of times when the program is running, indeed, we didnt get bitten!
haha.
shld’ve created this application when i was still in seletar camp wat!
the mossies there is like come find you at night = you don’t need to sleep le.
so i had to resort to applying the super corrosive SAF insect-repellent in BUNK!
ARGH, those were the days …
photos!

the pic looks small but actual size nt that small la.
haha.

and flower crab the body quite alot of meat and it taste so sweettt, sweety than mud crabs~
haha.
more more crabs!

before we left the place.
i took out some
smaller ones, for catch and release(CnR).
its a good practice, for the population to sustain.
and they happen to be mostly females o.O

look at the selar fish now!
the crabs sure were very hungry!

close-up.
the tails were like breaking off anytime le lor.

say good bye to this place!

so we chiong all the way till woodlands checkpt there, had some teh-peng and iced longans and proceed on way back.
at night, the woodlands interchange.
you can practically cycle thru the interchange!

argh, i look so fugly over here.

on the way home was like superb la!
it was already 2am+ le.
the initial whole journey from sembawng –> marsiling was 80% UPSLOPE.
so when we were cycling back from marsiling –> sembawang.
we were like, letting the slope bring us back home and we chatted and chatted until like we dunno we were cycling!
lol.
DAMN SHUANG~
Okay i think im crazy.
Cause i got a medical-checkup at NUS tml and im not sleep now but blogging!
Shit!
But good thing is, cy is accompanying me to NUS :D
