this is my first attempt at making egg tarts!
got the recipe from a army friend this week and though that i shld give it a try straight away i book out as i ❤ eating egg tarts :)
first step is to make the crust.
mix all the flour, butter, baking powder bla bla and here’s the dough :)
agar agar take a pingpong ball size dough out and spread them nicely on the mould.
send the crust for baking in the oven, 150°C for 20mins and then take it out.
and i realise the crust didnt look that nice and still looks very pale and dry.
i thought i went wrong somewhere and was telling fangwei that we gonna fail :(
however, we still pour in the egg custard that i prepared when the crust was baking.
then i got a problem again!, the egg custard like got one piece one piece like that, i think its because i never keep stirring when i was cooking the custard.
then came yet another problem!
the recipe ended, and no more instructions was given lor!
dead!
then i agar agar put the egg tarts back into the oven to bake.
half way i took it out to check the progress.
still looks pale, but the crust is starting to turn brown and the custard like starting to harden le!
so i let the egg tarts stay in the oven to bake, for like ages lor!
i was beside the oven watching over the tarts and also watching 小娘惹 at the same time.
and at 9:43pm, finally!
my first batch of egg tarts was ready.
i baked the tarts for damn long before they look like the one below lor.
then came the 2nd batch, baked all the way till 11pm lor!
argh!
home-made egg tarts = hard work.
i straight away tasted the egg tarts and one weird thing i observed was that the custard like still very soft and watery!
but the crust was just nice, very香 and crunchy.
then i was thinking maybe i failed in making the custard.
after the baking session, i went out for supper session with 1/2 of the
sembawang clique cause the other half is either busy in camp or sian to go out.
i let them taste my egg tarts and funny thing is i took 2 tarts out and 1 the custard harden already and the other one was still soft and watery.
so i was thinking the one that harden already was from the first batch.
so i thought that the custard was watery because it just came out from the oven!
this morning, i went to take a egg tart to eat.
see!
it harden already!

yesterday was chatting with alvin about his taiwan trip last week.
he went for a 7days around the island taiwan trip with his family and all the places he went is so similar to my trip last year la!
even the shops that sell the 灵芝, the deer foetus and the shop that counts the number of strokes in your name and tells the fortune, all is so similar la.
haha reminds me of those days in taiwan.
okay gonna end my post and get rdy for TWLIGHT with alvin, my and fw and then book in tonight for sat guard duty :(
