went for the nike+ human race today!
met-up with alvin and fw together for a simple kbox session.
i only slept 5hours. slept at 5am ytd :(
after the kbox session, fw and me straight away went to esplanade park where the baggage deposit area is.
Baggage deposit.
reached there at around 3:15pm. there was practically no queue there. everything was efficient.
we then slowly stroll to the esplanade bridge.
we reached the bridge at around 3:45pm.
still quite early. we were considered quite infront of the crowd.
There was alot of barriers and stuffs to separate the blue tag and green tag runners which categorise us according to our proposed running time.
and we thought that we will be in WAVE 1 since we are quite infront of the gathering area.
then around 4:20pm WAVE 1 started their race and we were trapped behind! while some other ppl from the side can move on.
I have really no idea how they choose who is the WAVE 1 and WAVE 2.
since on the "race day guide" they mentioned that those early birds wearing green tag can join WAVE 1.
ARGH. just when i thought my race started, i even started my stopwatch and then we realise we are WAVE 2.
okay, we waited another 15mins, at around 4:35pm, WAVE 2 was finally flagged off by our MP Mr Teo Ser Luck, Joanne Peh, and the World Wildlife Fund mascot, a PANDA.
WOOOHOOO!the race started with
BOYS LIKE GIRLS 's GREAT ESCAPE, we finally escape from the crowd on the esplanade bridge! Lol.
Its always a good experience to be running with the scenery of skyscrapers on both sides of the road and at that moment, you simple feel that you are so tiny on the road!
saw norman then saw zs at the opposite running lane. they're from WAVE 1.
ROAR.
First 3km i ran with fw.
But i was always looking at where fw was and slowing down to ask him to open up his steps.
Then after 3km i ran on my own.
Its a great feeling to sprint on your own.
Even if you have a friend who can run as fast as u.
Because, you dont need to always catch up with your friends after meandering through a crowded area or have to accelerate out of your own comfort to get back to your friend.
You dont have to stop at waterpoint because your friend want a drink.
You simply run at your own pace!
OKay, so i ran and tried as much as possible to meander and meander through the crowds.
People started walking and the run was getting a bit irritating.
Not say people cannot walk, but i just cant help whining cause they are blocking the traffic.
Especially starting from the Boat Quay area where we start to run on pavements, underpass and bridges, rather than on roads.
(*refer to map)You can see those angmohs eating at the boat quay all looking at a us with amazed expressions. Suddenly, you see streams of red people, all the way to the opposite side of the river running through the pubs and restaurants area.
Really look so out of place lor. But we dont usually get to run there, thats a point.
I simple hate the 7.5km mark, cause the waterpoint is damn congested.
They setup a scanning area where everyone have to run across to get your running chip scanned at a very squeezy pavement.
Everyone was stucked there la. I was stucked there for like nearly 1minute and it really broked my momentum.
Quickly grabbed the 100 plus and continued running.
A good thing i noticed was there are alot of marshallers, and some of them quite pretty.
Okay the main thing is not them being pretty.
There are also cones to mark out danger areas and also lots of directional signs that sometimes i find them meaninless.
There are also mats placed on areas where its more slippery.
I couldnt appreciate the bands and the DJs along the running route as i was concentrating on my road but i guess it will be entertaining for those who prefer to walk.
How i wish i was in WAVE 1. Im not saying that im fast or what. But its just to gauge more easily how many people am i actually ahead of. Because im in WAVE 2 and people that are infront of me are not neccessary from WAVE 2.
Generally i enjoyed the run :)
The overall feeling was great.
P/S : Gonna go pack my thailand stuffs and book-in bag. Booking in tml morn and i guess booking out tml night? -_-;
