(super spoiler alert!)

"why are you doing this to us? "
"because you're at home."
a quote adapted from "the strangers"
watched "the strangers" with cy and alvin.
sembawang clique getting smaller since wy and my just got enlisted and fw said he was "sian" today and didnt want to watch movie.
me n cy initially wanted a double movie "marathorn".
wanted to watch "wanted" and "the strangers".
but we were late for 740pm "wanted". we only arrived at 8pm ...
therefore we decided to give it a miss and went to shop ard amk.
tickets was dirt-cheap 6bucks each, cause we paid through nets.
i would give a 4 star out of 5 for this movie.
maybe because i simply adore chiller/horror movies
we couldnt help, but we all got too freaked-out by some of the scenes that got us all screaming.
love how the director uses angles and different scenes to give his audience a scare and not just by using cheap-skate sound-scaring methods.
i realized alot of asian horror movies like to use sound effects to scare their audience and im getting pretty tired of such moves. you simple feel nothing if you were to cover your ears and watch the movie.
there are many scenes in which the masked strangers or leatherface you can call it, appears right behind the victim which much sound effects and it still gives you the chill down the spine.
there were also lots of suspense in the movie that lead to me constantly in a very aggitated mood.
there was a lot of anticipation from us that somewhat there would be something appearing.
however, it often turns into empty scares. :( phewssss
here comes the cons, there seems to be too much of such tactics used that it seems rather sick.
seeing the female lead going in and out of the house repeatedly and sort of repeating too many of the scare-yourself-out scenes.
the last part of the movie is kinda a turnoff -_-
the female lead suddenly woke up, after been stabbed a few times and screams at the boys who happened to be at the house and was about to touch her.
the part about the story plot being inspired by true events was also quite disappointing after i wiki about the movie.
"The movie is inspired by an event from director Bryan Bertino's childhood: a stranger came to his home asking for a person and he would later find out that empty homes in the neighborhood had been burglarized. With that memory in mind, Bertino created this screenplay."
So the killing scenes in the house are all but imaginery?
Nonetheless, its still a superb thriller and its one of the best that i've seen.
Something to add ...
got this from a movie forum,
I've watched this movie twice now, and I didn't notice it the first time, so I was under the impression that The Strangers happened upon James' family home as they were driving by the various houses through the day and night, deciding on which one they were going to terrorize. However, they actually see James and Kristen outside at the wedding reception. In the background in the parking lot, as James is about to propose, you hear the truck pull up and then see it [blurred] in the background. Did anyone else not notice this, or did you notice it right away?
this is the best picture of the truck that i can get.
or you can view it at
