This is gonna be a long post with lots of pictures!

Its the jc clique outing to bugis street fest !

I was wondering where will the taiwan street fest be feld as it stated Hylam Street.

This is Hylam Street -_-.

Knew about this taiwan street fest through the papers.

As you guys know im a fanatic for taiwan stuffs :)

Look at the crowd! Its so squeezy over there la. They shld've set up this fest on a field or what.

But come to think of that, theres air-condition ! and its damn convenient la. Coz its in bugis junction.

taiwan 贡丸汤!i had this when i was in taiwan. perfect for a cold weather when i was there in feb 2007 :D

taiwan desserts! in specific, 芋圆冰!i had this at 九份. It was very very cold up there in the mountain. So we had the hot version of 芋圆冰 which is 芋圆汤. so nice :)

The disappointing thing is that 60% of the stalls at this taiwan street fest can be found in normal pasar malams.

But some stalls like the meatball, smelly beancurd, yam ball stalls are still very authentic. i think! at least its similar to what i had in taiwan.

Abigail chay was there to host the taiwan performances there !
Oh my god.

Cant really stand the way she host. Wonder why the organiser got her to host such a festival.
She cant even speak properly.
Yb even spotted her occasional shaking of her poms poms when she speaks.

Ekkks.

Smelly beancurd!

The stall is situated outside the air-conditioned area.
Guess it will be too much for the shoppers to take if its in the shopping mall itself.

Look at the queue! Theres still abit of the queue infront of me.

Deep-fried smell beancurd :D

I rmb theres alot of variety of smellbeancurd in taiwan.

Theres BBQed, steamboat, fried and so on.

And they really do stink!

My tour guide even challenged us by saying,

"This pot of smell beancurd is on the house, it al depends on how much you can
finish"

Then me and my brother went to grab a few bowls.
The soup + the beancurd really is a killer.

But we still think its quite nice! Haha.

But the fellow tourmates on our table thought otherwise.

They, including my parents were all pinching their noses when we were devouring the beancurds.

The beancurds in taiwan are more smelly.

I can even say the one in singapore is no-kick O_O

I thought i smell cat's urine when i was back in taiwan.

Some seasoned veggies to get rid f the greasiness.
And that dark sauce adds flavour to the beancurd.

Thats the yam ball dessert. They got chinchow, peanuts, ginko nuts, pumpkin balls and yam paste inside!

Chinchow + yam balls + pumpkin balls.

Taken when we were queueing for the 超大鸡排Kept saying Chao Ta. which means charred chicken cutlet. lol.

Deliciousss!

haha. saw fabian behind the queue there with his friends or family. not sure which. lol!
helped him to order 3 超大鸡排.

kaili looking tired after queueing for soooo long for the smelly beancurd, chicken cutlet and yam desserts.

wow! zj gonna swallow the wooden stick! 表演吞剑!

crispy and tender honey fried chicken :D

my white canvas shoe :P

kaili's a HAPPY girl with her yummy chicken~

after having our mini bites.

we were aimless and we didnt plan anything else to do after the feast.

Then, yubin suggested going to MIND CAFE!

we missed to chance to visit MIND cafe the othertime and thought that theres a outlet in bugis and why not!?

HOWEVER!!

both me and yubin didnt record down the phone no. for the outlet. and we had no idea how to go there.

then yubin rmb i can use my itouch's WIFI!

haha the speed was damn fast at starbucks bugis.

Look! That's MIND CAFE's website.

PURVIS Street!
We used NLB and Bras Basah as landmarks and navigated our way there.

Me zhenjie and kaili were all geography students! No worries! Haha.

The pretty night view of bugis junction before we set off for the navigation.

on Liang Seah street finding our way :D

On the way, i saw a familier signboard.

YY Coffee Shop.

Lol
My campmates should know what.

And theres Chin Chin down the street.

Together, theres Chin Chin and YY!
Saw the yellow circle on the right corner?

Haha YY and Chin is actually my campmates's nicknames.
They happen to be churchmates, then camp mates, then bunkmates, then now what?

SHOPMATES!

LOL.

Finally we reached!

sad thing is, the seats are all fully reserved up till around 9pm+
:(

so we decided to visit the dhoby ghaut branch!

on the way back to bugis MRT.

we saw a unique shop.

maybe not a shop, maybe its a gallery?

Theres only 3 bicycles inside!! Such a waste of space.

Maybe i dunno how to appreaciate arts.

But the fact is the owner succeed in attracting our attention.

:)

The cathay.
Its pretty.

Should visit there more often for movies.

Again, i used my itouch to look for the map and navigated using YMCA and Rendezvous Hotel.

Prinsep Place is where MIND CAFE is situated!

The Menu.

Yubin wanted to take a snapshot of me while im looking at the menu, but i was faster.

:P

Thats the first game we played!

As reconmended by zs. I just rmb him saying theres coffins for u to cover the zombies and we told the MIND CAFE ppl and they gave us this.

The coffins with zombies covered underneath.

Its really a fun memory game! MY favourite of all!

our drinks. which is included in the FANTASTIC 4 PACKAGE.

i ordered lycee drink. which is practically caned lyrcees la!

never order that unless you are a lycee-fanatic.

our munchies and snackies.

munchies are the mini-pizzars and gyoza.

the girls happy with their drinks.

but im not happy with my lycee drink. lol.

the most-thrilling part of this memory game is when you open the coffin and you see a zombie! coz there will be a penalty for opening a coffin with a zombie inside.

surprising a memory game can be so exciting! haha.

uno stacko!

didnt play that as we were lacking of the dice.

Lol. a simple memory game. yes we choosed a memory game again. didnt know it was one until we read the instructions :(

our chicks. i was the blue one.

in this game, you have to open the green cards and match those on the paths in order to make a step forward.
you will have to overtake al chicks to win the game by taking away their tails.

guess who win the game?

definitely not me what. coz i told u guys that im the blue chick.

zj totally thrashed us la!

haha. we were still having a hard time memorising where the snail card, or the broken egg card is and there zj go, flip and move flip and move.

POOF. he overtaked everyone and he remembered every single green cards!

OMG. we were all so amazed lor.

zj must've went for intense adam khoo's classes before that.

MAD GAB.

we didnt play this game also as it needed us to pronounce words and the cafe was rather noisy and we were losing our voice already.

this game is quite fun also!

Im the blue fish again!

You are supposed to eat other fishes!

Its hard to explain the game!

Nvm nvm. Guess who win the game this time round?

Blue won! And its me :D

Next Up, SNORTA!

Choose a animal, give it a weird weird name and cover it with the house.

i choosed "ratatouilleeeeeee"

introducing,

kermit the frog (yb) , ratatouilleeeeeee (yx) , pikachiku the duck?! (kl) i still dunno the name up till now la! lol. , hoot hoot (zj)

in this game you got to call the opponent's pet name when both of your cards matches.
the first to call the opponents name win the round.

the girls obviously cheated!

look at the difficulty of their names!

lol.

OUR LAST GAME, HALLI GALLI.

Okay this game is simple.

We each open our individual cards together, and whenever we see the fruits on the cards add up to 5 fruits of the same kind, then we will press the bell.
The first to press the bell gets all the cards on the table.

The player with the most cards in the end wins the game!

The poor bell, kenna slapped by us @#$%^&*( many times.

It was 11pm already! Had to end our games :(

Exceeded by 30mins and had to pay $5 for it.
They didnt chase us away and we thought we could play on. Lol.

Thats the price for our own greedyness.

Group photos at our table!

Haha must thank a female staff over there. Forgot her name. Think its Hui Min or what.
She was so helpful she always came to ask us if we needed any help on the game, and not once from the other staffs.

Out of 5 games i think she explained 3 games clearly to us.

Im really amazed at how well she knows the games. She remembered every details without even looking at the manuals.

She should get the best staff award! Lol.

Argh! Should've taken a picture on the number of board games they have over there!
Didnt manage to find taboo though :(

Bye bye MIND CAFE!
Its a really fun place for gatherings!

Will be visiting the place again i bet!
